William Hill Casino

Logo victory for 32Red Casino

The number 32Red from the roulette wheel has become synonymous with 32Red Casino and is considered one of the best bits of branding in the industry. So when William Hill Casino launched its 32Vegas two years ago, 32Red understandably were not very happy about it. A two-year copyright battle ensued, which has ended today with a logo victory for 32Red Casino.

The High Court injunction issued today means that William Hill online (WHO) are now prevented from using the 32Vegas logo anywhere in Europe and must publish today’s ruling on several of its largest websites.

William Hill have now rebranded the logo as 21Nova and this is the name that will be seen in the UK and across the European Union after this High Court injunction prevents them from using the 32Vegas logo any longer. Although the brand changed in 2009, the problem that 32Red Casino had was with the fact that William Hill online were still using the 32Vegas name to send players to 21Nova and they argued that this infringed their copyright.

The case continues today but William Hill Casino are going to have quite a job on their hands chasing down affiliates and getting the 32Vegas name removed from all associations with William Hill Casino.

If you’re a fan of 32Red then you’ll no doubt be pleased about the decision, after all it’s now impossible to think of 32Red on the roulette wheel at the casino without thinking about 32Red Casino. That’s good marketing, fantastic branding and no one can blame 32Red Casino for wanting to protect it!
